playdate with piper

W had a playdate with our neighbor Piper last weekend.  They were really cute to watch.  They tried to play ball, cars, skateboards and then the stuffies (stuffed animals) came out.  They even did some inside time playing house which meant taking all of the pillows off of the couch and throwing them on the floor with the stuffies.  There was also a bit of jumping/running all over the couch.  W is so lucky, my mom would never have allowed the couch jumping.  We can't wait for summer (I know this seems to be a theme lately, but summer is truly the better season up in the mountains.  It never gets really hot and we get a lot of sunshine.)  W is just getting to a good age to play with the neighbor kids.  After a winter of hibernation, the hood becomes a party all summer long.

drive thrus are fun!

W got to experience the drive thru at Starbucks the other day.  He was pretty impressed.  Zed got really excited as he was expecting a dog treat for himself.  I forget that Zed has been through more drive thrus than W.  W got a Strawberries & Cream Frappuccino for the first and last time.  He really enjoyed it.  He won't stop talking about that pink smoothie with a green straw that he had that one time in the car.  I recently heard that the pink coloring used in this delicious drink are from crushed bugs.  No joke.  (check this out)  I know this wasn't the healthiest of treats, but bugs, come on.  I guess we will have to find a new drive thru treat for him to enjoy.  It shouldn't be hard, right?

family day

Saturday is usually family day for us.  We headed down to Evergreen to enjoy some pre-summer weather.  We had to dust off the flip flops and shorts.  I even bought out the sunscreen.  We started the day out with breakfast at the Country Road Cafe.  They serve very big portions.  W shared some of his plate size pancake with Zeph, who really enjoyed.
After breakfast we headed off to the park (the first of the day).  Zeph went swinging for the first time.  He wasn't sure at first, but he really got into it (I will post a video later).  We than headed to Super Walmart, which was super.  We had to get fabric for W's birthday.  W also got a Scooby Doo ball (we are suckers, so W gets spoiled too often).

Off to another park!  W and C played a little soccer and we did a nice walk.  Zeph is now riding in the stroller without the car seat.

Back in the car to head home.  Most of our days end with the kids sleeping in the car. It seems to be the only way to get W to nap now a days.

A fun day was had by all, including Zed.  I think we are ready for a long summer!

carlin update

Carlin went to the doctor on Friday and things are going well.  The doctor still thinks he will not need surgery. The cast is still on.  C was really hoping they would take it off (not sure why, it's only been a week).  He just wants one good scratch and to wash his now stinky appendage.  He was given the date of April, 11th for removal.  He can't wait.  Seriously, he talks about taking his cast off by himself all day every day.

W has made sure that C's cast is properly decorated.  The items that W had to put on C's cast: his name, Zeph's name, Patrick, Sponge Bob, Batman, rainbow, moons, snowflakes and a trophy (that C drew under W's on direction).

keystone sans kidtopia

We headed to Keystone on Friday to enjoy the nice weather.  It was in the 50s!  It wasn't that busy, which we like, but not good for business considering it's still March.  (I know it seems like we go to Keystone a lot, but that isn't really the case.  It's just a nice place to have a daycation that is very close to home.)  It took some convincing, but W finally realized that Kidtopia was not going on.  He thinks Keystone is Kidtopia, therefore when going to Keystone we are going to Kidtopia.  Makes sense, right?  We still had fun.
We had lunch at one of favorite places, Inxspot.  They have an awesome curried mock chicken salad. Zeph sat in a restaurant high chair for the first time.  So many new surfaces to put his mouth on.  He really enjoyed sitting at the table with the fam.

Cheerio?

We can't go to Keystone without a visit to Ripperoo's Cabin.

After playing some hide-and-seek at the park, we found a table outside to enjoy the sunshine.  I really wish I had worn my flip flops (which are still packed up in the attic).  I can't remember the last time I was able to wear flips flops in March. C and I had a cool refreshing beer while W enjoyed a cheese pizza, with extra parmesan cheese (which could have been a meal by itself).

W was so hot, that he had to sit in the shade on the ground.

Sweet ride.

wakey wakey

This is how I found Zeph the other day after a nap.  He moved a lot in  my belly, but now, it's hard to contain him.  I would say most nights, we have to reposition him, so he doesn't wake up like this in the middle of the night.  This day, he was very happy.  He was chatting up a storm when I went to get him.  I was surprised to find him in the position and so happy.

finger foods

Zeph started finger foods this week.  I think he gets more frustrated than full.  He has started to get the hang of picking up Cheerios.  But the putting them in his mouth is something of a challenge.  They get stuck in his hands and end up all over the floor.  We are lacking the floor cleaner this time around.  Zoey used to love when W started feeding himself.  She got all of the shrapnel.  Zed is a little more particular. W does like to help by picking food up off the floor and feeding it to Zeph.  I guess I will have to mop more often.  As far as other food goes (like mozzarella, peaches, etc.) he prefers me to help him. We will keep trying.  At least he has sweet highchair for training.

nighty night

W read Zeph a book last night before bed.  It's really cute.  W picks a few books every night for us to read to him.  He always picks one or two for Zeph.  Sometimes Z makes it to story time and sometimes he doesn't.  W is never happy when he doesn't.

W loves to ham it up for the camera.  Zeph is following in his footsteps.

Look at that Budda belly.  He's just not eating enough (he had another 4 oz bottle after this one before settling down for the night)
