banana bread

W and I finally made banana bread/muffins this last weekend.
(We have been talking about it for a while and always run out of time on the weekend)

Everything turned out great, especially considering I was the lead baker.  I do not have the skills that C has.  I even used a mixture of wheat and white flour and cut out half of the sugar and still the loaves and muffins were good.  I was a bit surprised.  Granted with W helping, I should have known that everything would be good.  He's a good understudy when cooking and baking with daddy.

Everyone enjoy.  Our next kitchen adventure will be making popsicles.  We are long over do for them with how hot the summer has been so far.

the royal gorge

The Royal Gorge is a must see sight in Colorado.  C and I made a trip down to Canon City about 10 years ago.  It was nice to see again and take the boys.

The view off the bridge.

The Haser Clan joined us at the Gorge.  It was their first time.

All 52 state flags are represented.

W with the sheriff.  He loves cowboys & indians.

Cooling down in the gold panning trough.  It was hot!

It was a pretty long walk, up hill to get to the tram.

A picture from the tram that goes across the gorge.

Our photo.
(we take one of these pretty much where ever we go.  it's gotten a bit harder with four)

Zeph sharing an ice cream cone with Daddy.
(I think he would have preferred to have his own)

The boys riding the train.

W riding the carousel with the Hasers.

The Royal Kennel, where Zed stayed.  Dogs are allowed in the park, but this was a nice (free) option.  The Royal Gorge is out in desert terrain, so there is not much shade and it gets HOT!

the great sand dunes

We made a detour by the Great Sand Dunes on our way home from camping.  It was quite a sight.  We will definitely visit again, once the boys are older.  The dunes look like a big pile of sand at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountain range.

Medano Creek was not running very high, due to the lack snow melt and rain fall, but we still had fun.  We did not get to go sledding.  It was a trek and some nasty weather blew in, so our trip was cut short.  Also, we still had a pretty long drive home.

The boys having fun splashing in the water that was running.
The creek usually runs a lot higher so that you can swim in it.

W dug himself a hole to sit in.

father's day

Happy belated Father's Day!  C was a sport.  He had to work, so we celebrated the day before at the Frisco BBQ.  He played with the boys as much as he could between taking calls.  It's a tough job, but C is always up for a challenge (and he loves spending time, even while working, with the boys).

The boys "working" just like daddy.

C made some time to pitch a couple of balls to W (who has decided that he does not need a tee anymore to hit off of).  W loves playing ball.

After C got done with work, we went for a walk in the hood.

We finished out the day with grilling and chilling on our porch, watching W play ball (of course).

frisco bbq 2012

We headed to the Frisco BBQ this past weekend (it was our Father's Day, since C works on Sundays).  The forecast was not good, but it turned out to be a beautiful day.  We even finished our evening at the Breck Town Party (we have skipped this event the last couple of years).  All in all, I think C had a great Father's Day weekend.

I think the boys got their fill of meat.
Zeph had a few bones all to himself (it was amazing to see what he could to with just two teeth!)

W finishing up the beignet (or as he says it bengay).  Zeph got a few bits, but W did not want to give much up.

W's big kid now.  He and do laps on the bouncy obstacle course.

Waiting for the pig races to begin.

These photos may seem kind of random, but if you look closely, there is a cowboy in them.  W was fascinated with the cowboy and it turns out he knows how to bbq.  W went back for thirds.
