Ice Castle

We got the chance to visit the Ice Castle in Silverthorne recently. They had a Groupon that made it a swingin deal (and kids under 4 are free).  It is quite a sight that is ever evolving.
We had almost 100 photos from this evening due to our overly eager photo hound son and the cool "castle".  We spend almost 45 minutes walking around (I thought for sure we would have been done after 15 min, but W pressed on).

Snow Sculptures 2012

Breckenridge hosts The International Snow Sculpture Championships every year in January.  Teams come from all over to compete.  The town brings almost 320 tons of snow to the River Walk Center (the site of the competition).  The teams have four days to finish their visions and then they are judged and a winner is announced.  The first evening after the sculptures are done, they are lit and some even use fire.  It is really amazing to watch the transformation of the snow blocks into sculptures.

The photo to the left is of W with the winning sculpture.
For us, this year's Snow Sculpture viewing was pretty cold.  We always seem to miss the opening night when they light the sculptures and reveal the winners.

Sorry the photos are not the best.  I forgot the camera and smartphone cameras are just not meant to capture an energetic 3 1/2 year old on a cold night.

We stopped by Mi Casa after viewing the sculptures.

More sledding...

We did a little sledding over the weekend.  Since the temperatures have been low and we have not seen much snow lately, the run was fast!
W loves it!  But who wouldn't like getting pulled up the hill in a sled.

Daddy and W getting ready to go.

"Now we are cooking"... W's comment when they start going.

Z fell a sleep, he seemed pretty comfy.

Z still a little sleepy from the little hike.

Zeph's excited

So true.
