work around the house

We did some beautification around the yard a couple of weekends ago (I know I am way behind in my blogs, like usual).  Carlin painted the fence and I planted some flowers.  W helped us both, he's got skills.  Of course these photos are of the flowers right after they were planted, so they look great.  I will have to post some pictures of what they look like now.  Some good, some not so good.
We will see how they do throughout the summer.  I am not know for having a green thumb.

W taking a break from all of the yard work he did.

C painting the trim.  He got a wicked burn on his back side right above his shorts from bending over all day.

pop pop pop

We have movie night (officially) one night a week.  I hate to say it, but W talks us in to movies more often than that.  Movie night usually is accompanied by popcorn.  This was Zeph's first time having popcorn, I think he likes it (as you can see from the photos).  Poor Zed now has one more mouth he has to wait for to miss to get his own piece (and Zeph doesn't miss).

W sharing with Zeph.

Zeph got sick of waiting for someone to hand him a piece, so he helped himself.

new kicks

W is so proud of his new shoes (they are black and grey DCs).  We went to the store and tried on a couple of shoe before he decided these were the winners!  Now that he has been to a shoe store, he may want to go again.

camping

Here it is, finally, our first camping trip blog with the pop up camper (and Zeph's first time camping ever).  Sorry, it has taken me so long to get this posted.  We had almost 200 photos from our four day excursion.  It was so hard to narrow down the photos for this post.

We started our journey on Memorial Day (I waited to long to book a campsite for that particular weekend), it was a beautiful day and the weather stayed that way for our entire trip.  It turns out, that Monday is a great day for starting a vacation - everyone else is heading home.  We camped at the Lake Isabel-St Charles Campground, located in the Wet Mountains about 30 miles Southwest of Pueblo, CO.  (It was pretty remote, more so then expected, but nice).  It was beautiful and not as hot (due to elevation) as Canon City and Pueblo are.  Our campsite was on the river, had some shade and was not far from the vault toilets.  Very convenient, I thought, but W was not a fan of the vault toilets for going number two.  Luckily we hit up enough public places, that he was able to take care of business.  Another great thing about not camping over a weekend, very few other campers.  The Haser clan joined us for a few days, which was nice to have some company out in the middle of no where.  W goes to school with Mads, so they kept each other busy and entertained Zeph and Jax (Mad's brother).

We did quite a bit in our four days - we hung around the campground, fished, visited the Royal Gorge in Canon City, toured Bishop's Castle and stopped by the Great Sand Dunes (there will be a blogs on the last three-there was just too much to include in one blog).

Over all, it went really well and fun was had by all.  We can't wait for our next trip in August.

It did not take long for the kids to get into the whole camping thing.

Zeph really enjoyed the popup.  Luckily, the Hasers brought a pack-n-play (we opted out, thinking we would not need it-we were very wrong). Zeph didn't do well sleeping in the bed, he just wanted to crawl around.  The first night was a bit rough, but it got better and sleep was had by all by the end.

W is king of the world!                    W doing a puzzle.

Zeph doing one of his favorite past times, eating.

We went fishing, or at least tried to go fishing (only one fish was caught) at Lake Isabel.  We were hoping to go swimming, but it was a bit chilly.  Even though we were close to Pueblo (which is only 4662 ft above sea level) the campground was at 8800 ft and it was only the end of May (which is typically still cold at night).
W got a chance to "fish" and even netted the fish that was caught, by Mads' daddy.

Last night having a smore.

W "helped" break

Campfire talk with Daddy.

The last morning camping.  Packing up is never fun.

Zeph eating, again.

W at "Disneyland", yes that's correct.  W thought this was his "Disneyland".  Not sure how long we can convince him of this, but the longer the better for us, it's much cheaper to camp.

zeph at 10 mos

Our little Z is already 10 months (I gave up trying to keep track of how many weeks he is long a go).  I can't believe how fast time is going.  I know I keep saying that, but it's true.  His first birthday is only 2 mos away!  He is starting to change so much and it's hard to soak it all up when W is his big brother.

Zeph's Stats
weight: 19 lbs, 6.5 oz
height: 28.25"
hair: a bit of fuzz
eyes: blue

Nicknames
Z, Zeph, Little Bro, Pecker (not so much anymore, when he was a baby he would peck at whomever was holding him looking to eat), Budha Belly, Big Baby

Favorite Food:
Just about anything he can eat, he's not picky.  He likes to think he is eating whatever we are eating.  He seems to notice when he is given something else.  We have to be sneaky, since he only has 2 teeth so that limits what he can eat.

Activities
- chewing on everything
- "talking" to nobody in particular
- doing the Zeph (I will have to get a video of this-he pulses his arms and legs at the same time, it's too cute)
- giggling or laughing a lot
- throwing toys or food on the floor and than wanting you to pick it up to do all over again
- quacking and screaming, he is really finding his words
- feeding Zed (he throws his food, when he is done, onto the floor-it sucks when Zed doesn't like the offering)

Likes
- balloons
- eating
- Wentzle
- Peek-a-boo
- "walking" & standing
- swimming
- swinging
- his bottle

Dislikes
- being hungry
- going to bed, some nights
- not getting what he wants, we just have to figure out what it is that he wants

Skills
- recently has started to move. His teachers call his movement the inchworm.  He's becoming dangerous.  He really likes to explore.
- claps
- kind of signs "all done"
- started waving good bye
- eating, it is crazy how fast he can clean his tray

working

The boys multi-tasking.  Skyping with g-pa & g-ma shotts and working on their computers (just like their daddy).

people's fair 2012

This was the our fourth consecutive year going to Capital Hill People's Fair.  It was Zeph's first.  It was a hot morning.  We left just before it got windy and rainy.  We still had fun.
This is my favorite event to go to in Denver (we go every year).  I got my annual falafel wrap from Falafel King.
W always says he doesn't like falafel wraps and then eats most of mine.  This year we got a side of falafel and W and Z both enjoyed.  C got street tacos, he likes to mix it up from year to year.

This was our first outing with the umbrella wagon that C rigged.  It's great for the kids.
We have used it many times since and always get questioned about where we got it.

W gives his ride a thumbs up.

W always loves the bubble tree.  It's amazing how some soap and water can entertain kids.
